About the Role
Perform skilled work in maintenance, repair, and construction of lighting, power, and control electrical systems.
Responsibilities
- Effect construction and repairs from drawings or sketches
- Estimate materials, supplies, and labor costs
- Use all power and hand tools associated with the trade with little or no supervision
- Determine proper material for each job and apply knowledge of electricity and associated circuits
- Apply standard electrical code requirements
- Work effectively from ladders and scaffolding with due regard to safety for self and others
- Follow written and oral instructions
- Assume responsibility and complete tasks without assistance
- Answer emergency calls at all hours, including off hours
- Provide own hand tools
Requirements
- Standard high school diploma or approved GED
- One of the following:
- Completion of Broward County School District's Electrician Apprenticeship Program, or
- Six years of recent, professionally paid electrical work experience
- Current valid Broward County or State of Florida certification as an electrician (or must pass Florida State Certification Exam prior to permanent status)
- Current certificate of competence
- Valid Florida driver’s license (Class A or B Commercial Driver’s License with endorsement if required for duties)
- Ability to work well with others
- Computer skills as required for the position
- Pre-employment drug and alcohol testing

Light work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently to move objects.
Pay
Hourly rate: $32.43 - $34.89 (new hires start at the minimum of the range).
