Electrician I
About the role
The incumbent performs essential electrical installations and equipment maintenance throughout Shady Grove facilities and other specified locations. Responsibilities include supporting company programs like Lean, 5S, TPR, etc.
Responsibilities
- Thoroughly understands OSHA and NFPA70E safety regulations for electrical circuits and heavy manufacturing environments
- Skilled in a wide range of electrical supply systems, including motors, generators, transfer switches, transformers, switchgear, buss ducts, and disconnects
- Utilizes troubleshooting skills to resolve electrical problems quickly
- Familiar with electrical codes and standards such as NEC, IEEE, and NEMA
- Performs electrical load calculations for conductor sizing, conduit, fuses, and circuit breakers
- Supports company programs like Lean, 5S, TPR, etc.
- Works in various manufacturing environments, both inside and outside
- May require climbing ladders and operating lift equipment
- Maintains departmental housekeeping and 5S standards
- Wears required PPE and follows safety procedures
- Participates in safety training and brings safety concerns to management
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED preferred
- Technical trade school training and/or equivalent experience preferred
- Minimum 2 years of experience in heavy manufacturing environments, apprenticeships, or comparable military experience preferred
- Experience reading and understanding electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, ladder diagrams, and interpreting single line high voltage diagrams
- Experience in operating procedures, technical manuals, writing reports, and correspondence
Qualifications
Must have a valid driver’s license.
Skills
Knowledge of electrical supply systems, troubleshooting skills, electrical codes and standards, and ability to read and interpret electrical diagrams.
