Tewksbury Hospital is a Joint Commission accredited 360-bed long-term and acute care hospital that provides comprehensive treatment, care, and comfort to adults with medical and/or mental illnesses. A full range of services are provided including 24/7 nursing, nurse practitioners, medicine, psychiatric and psychological services, a six-bed inpatient dialysis unit, clinical laboratory, radiology, respiratory care, nutrition, speech/language pathology, occupational therapy, physical therapy, therapeutic recreation, and pharmacy. The hospital offers a broad range of services including a physician on site at all times, around-the-clock nursing care, rehabilitation services including physical therapy, occupational therapy, and speech therapy, psychology services, social services, nutritional services, and an on-site dialysis clinic.

About the Department of Public Health

The mission of the Massachusetts Department of Public Health (DPH) is to prevent illness, injury, and premature death, to assure access to high-quality public health and health care services, and to promote wellness and health equity for all people in the Commonwealth. We envision a Commonwealth in which all people enjoy optimal health. Massachusetts ranks among the healthiest states according to comparative analyses, but we face numerous challenges, including chronic and infectious disease, substance abuse, violence, preventable hospitalizations, and health disparities. DPH coordinates programs and policies to address specific diseases and conditions and offer services to address the needs of vulnerable populations. We also develop, implement, promote, and enforce regulations and policies to assure that the conditions under which people live are most conducive to health and enable people to make healthy choices for themselves and their families. We license health professionals, healthcare facilities and a variety of businesses that impact public health. We operate the state laboratory and four public health hospitals. Schedule

This is a 40 hour per week position, working 7am-3:30pm. The days off are Saturday and Sunday. Full-time, day shift, bargaining unit 03-NAGE (Trades/Crafts).

Responsibilities

• Performs all duties necessary for the planning, design, installation, modification, repair and removal of electrical, TV cabling, alarm and CCTV systems.
• Determines the need for, prices, orders, stores, inventories, distributes and documents the use of stock and special-order parts and materials.
• Operates, maintains, and secures the operation of all departmental/hospital equipment.
• Works with employees, contractors, consultants, vendors and others designated by the administration of the hospital and/or necessary to successfully perform the duties described.
• Establishes and maintains professional working relationships with others, including other staff members and employees requesting maintenance services, visitors, patients and their families, and other maintenance personnel.
• Ensures hospital compliance with all related codes, regulations and standards.
• Develops and maintains a knowledge of, complies with, enforces, and trains assigned employees on appropriate hospital policies, procedures, practices and directives.
• Attends all assigned meetings, training and other gatherings/events.
• Maintains a safe work environment.
• Performs all other duties related to the successful completion of requests, orders, job duties and directives approved by the hospital's administration or their designee.

Required Qualifications

• Knowledge of and ability to interpret all state and local electrical codes, regulations and standards.
• Knowledge of the types and uses of equipment, including testing equipment, used in electrical work.
• Knowledge of safety practices and precautions observed in the electrical trade.
• Ability to perform all physical activities related to the duties outlined.
• Ability to read blueprints, drawings and sketches.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
• Ability to lead a group of workers.
• Ability to make decisions and act quickly in emergency situations.
• Possession of a current and valid Massachusetts Journeyman or Master Electrician's License issued by the State Examiners of Electricians. (License requirement regarding the Department of Public Works: Neither general street lighting nor traffic light work performed by the Department of Public Works or its agents or employees on public ways is subject to the licensing requirements of M.G.L. Chap. 141. 1976-1977 Op AG, No. 26.)
• Based on assignment, possession of a current and valid Massachusetts Motor Vehicle Operator's License.

Preferred Qualifications

• Knowledge of hospital related codes, regulations, policies, procedures and directives.
• Knowledge of hospital systems and components.
• Knowledge of hospital related contracts and agreements.

Pay

Salary: $64,862.20. Salary placement is determined by a combination of factors, including the candidate's years of directly related experience and education, and alignment with the internal compensation structure as set forth by the Human Resources Division's Hiring Guidelines. For all bargaining unit positions (non-management), compensation is subject to the salary provisions outlined in the applicable collective bargaining agreement and will apply to placement within the appropriate salary range.
