Job Summary

An electrical helper with heavy industrial experience assists the journeyman electrician in all aspects of safe electrical component assembly and maintenance. This position also involves gaining knowledge in drawings, layouts, installs, and repairs of wiring, electrical fixtures, apparatus, and control equipment.

About the Role

Level IV: Competent to complete Journeyman level Electrical tasks with minimal supervision.

Overview of Primary Duties

  • Performing various tasks and material handling under the direct supervision of an assigned electrician.
  • Installing the work, measuring, cutting, bending, threading, assembling, and installing electrical conduit using tools such as a hacksaw, pipe threader, and conduit benders.
  • Aiding electricians in properly mounting and installing assigned electrical work, conduit, electrical tray, wires, and devices.
  • Demonstrating Yates Core Values and Principles.
  • Following Yates Code of Conduct.
  • Ensuring safety responsibilities and expectations are met.
  • Maintaining personal PPE and reporting incidents, near misses, and hazards to management.
  • Participating in workplace inspections and complying with statutory requirements.
  • Attending prestart and Safety meetings and contributing to discussions.
  • Providing suggestions to improve Safety.
  • Presenting a mature approach to working safely.

Qualifications

  • Level IV: Thirty-six (36) + months of heavy industrial-related electrical experience.
  • Level III: Twenty-four (24) to thirty-five (35) months of heavy industrial-related electrical experience.
  • Level II: Twelve (12) to twenty-three (23) months of heavy industrial-related electrical experience.
  • Level I: Zero (0) to eleven (11) months of heavy industrial-related electrical experience.
  • One (1) year of industrial experience.

Requirements

  • Ability to read and interpret instructions and documentation.
  • Personal hand tools required for craft as established on the Yates Industrial Minimum Tool List.
  • Successful completion of required Safety training to include, but not limited to, Confined Space, LOTO, and Working at Heights.

Physical Demands/Essential Job Functions

  • Work in all weather conditions at varying temperatures.
  • Work at varying elevations.
  • Work in windy and dusty environments.
  • Work in moderate to high noise levels.
  • Work in environments containing light to heavy equipment vehicles, small to large equipment, materials, communication equipment, and tools.
  • Use safety-approved body harnesses when working at 4' or above.
  • Adhere to large amounts of standing, walking, bending, squatting, climbing, and lifting.
  • Use arms and hands to signal, grab, hold, turn, push, and pull objects, materials, controls, and tools.
  • Lift, carry, and move heavy objects up to 25 lbs.
  • Use vision abilities to focus, see short and long distances, colors, depth perception, and peripheral vision.
