About the role
The Electrician is responsible for performing Journeyman level duties related to electrical components and systems such as generators, transformers, switchboards, controllers, circuit breakers, motors, heating units, conduit systems, or other transmission equipment.
Responsibilities
- Works from blueprints, drawings, layouts, or other specifications
- Locates and diagnoses trouble in the electrical system or equipment
- Solves standard computations relating to load requirements of wiring or electrical equipment using a variety of electrician's hand tools and measuring and testing instruments
- Documents actions, testing results, observations, final diagnosis of the situation and steps taken to resolve issues for each job or situation
- Repairs electrical issues by replacing or installing components, wiring or devices
- Determines the steps necessary to assess an electrical situation using testing devices, blueprints and maps
- Maintains a safe work environment by adhering to all company guidelines and OSHA safety requirements and also through reporting violations of policies, procedures and guidelines to immediate supervisor
- Uses ladders, scaffolding, platform and lifts to work on electrical systems in residential homes, on roadside poles and in commercial properties
- Answers emergency calls quickly, assesses the safety of the situation upon first arriving at the scene and provides directions to individuals affected by the electrical emergency to ensure their continued safety and comfort
- Maintains equipment to ensure it is in good condition and can operate or be used safely; reports any issues to immediate supervisor
- Other duties as assigned
Pay & Schedule
- Pay Rate: $38.98 per hour (union position)
- Shift: Monday – Friday, 7:00am – 3:30pm
