About the role
The Electrician is a skilled professional who specializes in electrical systems and wiring. Their primary responsibility is to install, maintain, repair, and upgrade electrical systems in residential, commercial, and industrial settings.
Responsibilities
Essential duties and responsibilities include:
- Electrical Installations: installing various electrical components and systems, such as electrical panels, outlets, switches, lighting fixtures, circuit breakers, and wiring, following electrical codes and blueprints to ensure safe and proper installation.
- Maintenance and Repairs: performing regular maintenance checks on electrical systems to identify and fix any potential issues, troubleshooting problems, and carrying out repairs to restore functionality.
- Electrical Upgrades: upgrading existing electrical systems to meet current standards or accommodate new equipment and appliances.
- Safety Compliance: prioritizing safety in their work, adhering to safety guidelines and regulations to prevent electrical hazards and ensure the well-being of occupants and property.
- Testing and Inspection: conducting various tests and inspections on electrical systems to verify their performance and compliance with industry standards.
- Reading Blueprints and Technical Diagrams: interpreting electrical blueprints and technical diagrams to plan and execute installations accurately.
- Electrical Code Compliance: ensuring that all installations and repairs meet legal requirements and industry standards.
- Communication: working with other professionals, such as construction teams and project managers, and providing good customer service.
- Time Management: prioritizing tasks and completing projects within specified timelines.
- Electrical Troubleshooting: identifying and resolving electrical issues using analytical thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Continuous Learning: staying updated with the latest electrical technologies, tools, and safety practices through ongoing training and professional development.
Requirements
Position requirements include:
- Extended hours, which will vary depending on job and site requirements.
- Working weekends if business needs require.
- Regular attendance is a necessary and essential function.
Physical & Cognitive Requirements
Physical and cognitive requirements include:
- Able to lift up to 50 lbs. regularly.
- Must be able to traverse in all weather conditions and work in extreme temperatures.
- Will sit in a chair on a computer, at times, for more than 8 hours / day.
- Must be able to stand and walk continuously through shift.
- Wear PPE (Personal Protective Equipment), respirator, when required.
- May be exposed to dust, fumes, and odoriferous working conditions.
Skills And Qualifications
Required skills and qualifications include:
- Master Electrician licensing in state performing work.
- Previous experience as an Electrician in the construction industry.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- A solid understanding of electrical systems, circuits, and equipment.
