About the Role
Primary duties focus on performing installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical and electronic equipment at a government facility. This includes maintenance, repair, and modification of interior and exterior electrical wiring, exterior high voltage/low voltage electrical circuits/systems, and equipment associated with electrical components throughout the assigned facilities.
Responsibilities
- Performs repair, overhaul, maintenance, and servicing of commercial and industrial electrical/electronic systems, locating and diagnosing trouble in the electrical system or equipment.
- Testing, installation, repair, and maintenance of a variety of electrical equipment, such as generators, ATS, UPS, transformers, switchboards, controllers, door operators, circuit breakers, motors, heating units, conduit systems, IR scans, or other transmission equipment.
- Performs fire alarm system and/or call systems testing and maintenance.
- Maintains the general cleanliness and appearance of assigned spaces and the workshop.
- Assists maintenance teams.
- Solely identifies and resolves failures/alarms related to critical building equipment.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Must have the skill and knowledge to use all hand and power tools, test equipment, shop machines, aerial booms, and other tools utilized by the craft.
- Knowledgeable and skilled in maintaining and repairing exterior and interior electrical wiring and components.
- Familiarity with all appropriate safety practices for working with hand and power tools.
- Ability to read and comprehend schematics, blueprints, and shop drawings.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to troubleshoot systems using electronics, computers, and software systems.
- Proficiency in using computers for checking email, data entry on CMMS, and training.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalency.
- Five (5) years of experience associated with commercial facilities.
- Electrician License preferred.
Physical Requirements
- Possible exposure to hazardous materials, requiring use of respirators and personal protective safety attire and equipment.
- Lifting and carrying varies dependent on location of equipment, up to 30-40ft height.
- Ability to push 50 pounds (maintenance equipment); ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds (supplies and equipment).
- Possible exposure to confined spaces such as ductwork, pits, and crawl spaces.
- Regular attendance is required to be successful in this position.
Special Requirements
- Must be able to successfully pass a federal, state, or local government's background investigation.
