About the role
AC Corp, a Crete United company, is part of a nationwide network and an emerging leader in energy efficiency focused on making the places where we work, live, and play healthier. The Electrical Journeyman is a leadership role that directs apprentices and mechanics while under the supervision of an Electrical Foreman. This role is responsible for successfully installing, testing, locating, and repairing electrical wiring, systems, and fixtures. The Journeyman is responsible for verifying correct installation and may be required to oversee the project in the absence of the Foreman.
Responsibilities
- Give and follow specific directions
- Inspect completed work for compliance and specifications
- Mentor and assist lower-level electricians
- Plan layout and install materials and/or equipment required by the job
- Connect power cables to equipment and install grounding leads
- Test continuity of circuit to ensure electrical compatibility and safety of components
- Observe functioning of installed equipment or systems to determine hazards and need for adjustments, relocation, or replacement
- Repair faulty equipment or systems
- Understand and comply with company/job safety requirements
- Maintain a safe and clean environment
Required Skills & Abilities
- General understanding of the National Electrical Code (NEC)
- Ability to read blueprints
- Extensive knowledge of electrical systems and wiring
- Ability to use hand tools and power tools
- Proficient in the use of test meters and other diagnostic equipment
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
Qualifications
- At least 2 years of electrical experience
- Ability to interpret mechanical, plumbing, and structural drawings
- Ability to think critically and resolve problems
- Can communicate and give written instructions in a professional manner
- Comfortable with MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
- Thorough understanding of safety requirements and OSHA guidelines
- Able to read and understand blueprints, sketches, labels, job site maps/directions, instruction manuals, and written instructions accurately
- Must be a high school graduate or hold a G.E.D.
- Must have a valid driver's license
Pay
Competitive pay based on experience — up to $36 per hour, depending on experience.
