About the role

The Electrician demonstrates the ability to learn new skills as a member of the department, reviews work of outside vendors, and reports discrepancies to management. Ensures all electrical logs and reports are completed accurately and promptly. Supports organizational goals by providing quality customer service, participating in performance improvement efforts, and demonstrating a commitment to teamwork and cooperation.

Responsibilities

  • Performs routine maintenance tasks as assigned
  • Repairs, replaces, and tests electrical circuits, equipment, and appliances
  • Inspects and tests electrical equipment, lighting, signal, communication, and power circuits
  • Aids in isolating defects in wiring, switches, motors, and other electrical components
  • Tests instruments such as ammeter, ohmmeter, voltmeter, testing lamp, or growler
  • Replaces faulty switches, sockets, and other electrical system components
  • Performs all work in accordance with established safety procedures and regulatory requirements
  • Inspects completed work for conformance with requirements of local building and safety codes
  • Estimates time and materials required for assigned electrical projects
  • Requisitions new electrical supplies and equipment
  • Assists in mounting motors, transformers, and lighting fixtures into position and completing circuits according to diagrams and specifications
  • May dismantle electrical machinery and replace defective electrical or mechanical parts such as gears, brushes, and armatures
  • Performs and assists other trade skills as needed

Qualifications

  • Education in topic or Equivalent Experience: High School Diploma or GED
  • Valid Driver’s License required
  • Not less than five years’ experience in installation, diagnostics, and repairs of electrical systems in Commercial, industrial, or institutional applications required
  • Demonstrates knowledge of building codes, state requirements, healthcare regulatory standards, and Joint Commission compliance
  • Demonstrates knowledge of Occupational Hazard and Safety Precautions
  • Demonstrates ability and knowledge to read and interpret architectural, mechanical, and electrical drawings

Skills

Requires the ability to lift 50 pounds and perform all required range of motions normally expected of a person performing maintenance work. Must be able to work in a strained position some of the time. Work whatever hours are necessary to maintain facility in a safe manner including weekends and nights.
