Electrician

About the role

The Journeyman Electrician is a highly skilled professional responsible for undertaking electrical installations, maintenance, and repairs. This role requires a deep knowledge of electrical codes, wiring systems, and safety practices, and works independently or as part of a team to ensure electrical systems are installed and maintained to the highest standards of safety and efficiency.

Responsibilities

• Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair electrical distribution systems, branch circuits, lighting systems, motors, generators, transformers, and associated equipment.
• Read and interpret electrical drawings, blueprints, schematics, specifications, and technical manuals.
• Perform preventive maintenance inspections, testing, and repairs on electrical equipment and systems.
• Diagnose electrical faults using appropriate test equipment, including multimeters, megohmmeters, power quality analyzers, and circuit tracers.
• Install conduit, raceways, cable trays, wiring, panels, breakers, switches, receptacles, lighting fixtures, and control systems.
• Ensure all electrical work complies with National Electrical Code (NEC), OSHA regulations, facility standards, and local building codes.
• Support emergency service calls and respond to power outages, equipment failures, and electrical system malfunctions.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records, inspection reports, and work order documentation.
• Coordinate electrical work with facility management, engineers, contractors, and other maintenance trades.
• Identify opportunities for improving system reliability, energy efficiency, and operational performance.
• Follow all lockout/tagout (LOTO), safety, and environmental procedures while performing assigned duties.

Working Conditions

Work in commercial, industrial, and government facility environments. May be required to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions. May require after-hours, weekend, or emergency response support.

Requirements

• Top Secret Clearance
• Journeyman Electrical License
• 3 years of experience
• Extensive knowledge of electrical codes, safety regulations, and system operations.
• Ability to climb ladders, work from lifts and scaffolding, and access confined spaces.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and work for extended periods.
• Ability to distinguish wire colors and operate electrical testing equipment safely.
