Electrician Apprentice Helper

About the role

This position will consist of, but not be limited to, installation and maintaining electrical and power systems.

Responsibilities

• Examine blueprints, sketches, diagrams, building plans and specifications to determine locations of circuits, outlets, load centers, panel boards, wires, components and other equipment.
• Inspect, examine, select and gather materials and tools to ensure proper operation.
• Inspect all designated work areas for hazards and obstructions.
• Maintain the wiring and control equipment through which electricity flows.
• Maintain electrical equipment and machines.
• Maintain, fix, repair and upgrade existing electrical systems and components such as circuit breakers, fuses, switches, wire, motors, transformers, generators and tools.
• Adhere to state and local building/electrical codes.
• Use hand and power tools such as conduit benders, screwdrivers, pliers, knives, hacksaws, wire strippers, drills and saws.
• Use equipment to test connections and ensure capability such as ammeters, ohmmeters, voltmeters and harmonics testers.
• Observe and comply with all safety and project rules.
• Follow direction from supervisor.
• Perform other duties as required.

Requirements

• Minimum of 2 years of experience as an Electrical Helper/Apprentice.
• Ability to read and interpret prints, drawings, schematics and plans.
• Knowledge of industrial electrician hand tools, power tools and layout tools.
• Ability to meet all physical demands and pre-employment conditions.
• Reliable transportation and ability to work 7 days a week as needed.
• Ability to work at heights and climb ladders and stairways, and work off of platforms.

Certifications and/or Licenses Required

• Must have all required tools.
• Must have basic knowledge of electrical construction processes.
• Must be able to follow instructions correctly.
• Must be able to make it to work on time and work the designated schedule and any overtime as needed.
