Under general supervision and with planning and engineering support, the Electrician will install, operate, maintain, alter, troubleshoot, and repair electrical power and lighting distribution systems along with a wide variety of industrial electrical equipment.
Responsibilities
- Demonstrate ownership of equipment systems serviced and pride in quality work.
- Install, inspect, troubleshoot, repair, maintain, or alter electrical services, equipment, and controls using approved and properly sized wire, conduit, raceways, and equipment.
- Work with high and low voltage systems, including transformers, high voltage primary feed and secondary transformers.
- Work with facilities and research electrical systems including VFDs, UPSs/lighting inverters, ATSs, emergency generators, lighting systems, gas detection systems, and motors.
- Work from CAD drawings, prints, schematics, sketches, or verbal instructions.
- Install static grounding circuits.
- Operate efficiently all hand/power tools, test instruments, and equipment normally used by this trade and maintain/return in good condition.
- Demonstrate ownership of workplace safety/site safety culture by adhering to all safety rules/regulations and reporting to supervisor any equipment in need of repair or any unsafe situations or conditions.
- Maintain work area and equipment in a safe, efficient, and clean operating condition.
- Assist in performing other duties, including work of other trades as required.
Requirements
- 5+ years apprenticeship or equivalent experience in electrical installation and repair in an industrial environment.
- Must have adequate skills to perform required job functions with minimal supervision.
- High School graduate or equivalent; vocation or technical school certification preferred.
Skills
- Required: Circuit Troubleshooting, Electrical Installations, Electrical Repair, Electrical Transformer, Equipment Repairs, Hand Tools, Instrumentation, Safety Culture, Site Safety, Test Instruments, Wiring Schematics.
- Preferred: Completed courses in Electrical Theory and Practice, familiarity with the local National Electric Code, understanding of wiring diagrams, schematics, and CAD drawings/Blueprints, knowledge of various types of electrical motors and controls.
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to adequately perform required job functions, including lifting, bending, and moving safely to perform job tasks.
- Must be able to operate required hand/power tools, test instrumentation, and equipment safely.
Environmental Conditions
Environmental conditions will vary based on the job being performed. Work may take place in either the maintenance shop and/or in the plant depending upon job requirements.
Schedule
- Day shift: 7:00 AM – 3:45 PM
- 2nd shift: 3:00 PM – 11:45 PM
- Shift determined by position availability after polling.
Pay
Compensation range: $36.79 to $45.98 per hour.
