Essential Job Functions

  • Analyze and repair electrical malfunctions.
  • Work from blueprints/schematics to perform maintenance/repair or install equipment.
  • Report materials and replacement parts needed for jobs.
  • Instruct subordinate employees still requiring training (e.g., Electrical Maintenance Mechanics, Classes B and C).
  • Determine proper size and specifications and perform electrical maintenance on miscellaneous items such as wire, conduit, fuses, motors, switches, panels, lighting, relays, control devices, etc.
  • Prepare layouts of electrical circuits.
  • Inspect motors, motor control centers, junction boxes, circuit breakers, transformers, fuse panels, and lighting, heating and air conditioning circuits and make necessary preventative and/or running repairs/corrections.
  • Perform installations, connections, adjustments, and calibrations of electrical gauges, meters, etc.
  • Troubleshoot computerized equipment controllers such as programmable, temperature, process controllers, etc.
  • Maintain safety, housekeeping, and sanitation and disease control requirements while performing job duties.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 4 years of training on the job and/or formal schooling.
  • Able to work with a minimum of supervision and complete work in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Able to lift 50 pounds.
  • Able to work from ladder, safely.
  • Able to work rotating shifts, and weekends as required.
  • Must have and maintain a California driver’s license and an acceptable DMV record.
