Key Responsibilities
- Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair 480V, 277V, 240V, and 120V electrical systems.
- Diagnose and repair motors, motor starters, VFDs, MCCs, transformers, breakers, and control panels.
- Perform lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures and verify zero-energy states.
- Read and interpret electrical schematics, singleline diagrams, and panel layouts.
- Troubleshoot PLC-controlled equipment (inputs/outputs, power supplies, communications).
- Identify faults in control logic and work with engineering or controls personnel to resolve issues.
- Support chemical processing equipment including pumps, mixers, conveyors, reactors, and packaging systems.
- Respond to electrical breakdowns and emergency calls during third shift.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records and shift reports.
- Perform scheduled preventive maintenance on electrical and control systems.
- Identify potential failures and recommend corrective actions.
- Assist with equipment upgrades and continuous improvement initiatives.
Required Qualifications
- Journeyman Electrician license or equivalent certification
- 5+ years of industrial electrical experience in a manufacturing environment (chemical or process industry preferred)
- High school diploma or GED; technical or trade school preferred
- Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and control schematics
- Proficient with electrical testing equipment (multimeter, megger, clamp meter)
- Willingness to work third shift, weekends, holidays, and overtime as required
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in chemical manufacturing or hazardous environments
- Knowledge of VFD programming and troubleshooting
- Experience with industrial networking (EtherNet/IP, ControlNet, Profibus)
- NFPA 70E or arc flash training
- Basic understanding of instrumentation (pressure, temperature, flow, level)
- Assist with HMI screen navigation, alarm recognition, and basic configuration changes
- Diagnose communication issues between HMI, PLCs, and field devices
Physical & Work Environment Requirements
- Ability to work in industrial environments with exposure to heat, noise, and chemicals
- Ability to climb ladders, work at heights, and access confined spaces
- Capable of lifting to 50 lbs
- Must be able to wear required PPE, including arc flash gear and respirators if necessary
