Electrical Technician I

About the role

R&P Technologies is seeking a full-time Marine Electrician Level I to assist with the installation, repair, and troubleshooting of electrical and electronic equipment onboard US Navy ships in Norfolk, VA. This position involves working on various ship classes and types across multiple Navy installations along the United States coast.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the installation of electrical cabling
  • Build and test various electrical connectors
  • Install hardware and troubleshoot malfunctions in electrical and electronic systems
  • Execute electrical installations for lighting, MC systems, 115V/440V electrical plant equipment, UPS equipment, audio/video equipment, antenna systems, and other systems
  • Install electrical cabinets, fixtures, and equipment for various electrical systems
  • Work with safety and distribution components (e.g., switches, resistors, circuit-breaker panels)
  • Pull in cables of various lengths and sizes to accommodate system connections
  • Work shipboard availabilities with various teams

Requirements

  • First and foremost, a responsible individual with great attention to safety precautions
  • Able to lift 50 pounds on their own
  • Willing to learn different kinds of electrical devices and systems
  • Prior shipboard experience is preferred but not required
  • Good critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Knowledge of safety procedures and guidelines
  • Ability to obtain and maintain Security Clearance and base access credentials
  • Must be able to work in confined spaces
  • Must be a U.S. citizen
  • Reliable and flexible with scheduling and planned support due to Navy movement

Qualifications

  • Must be a U.S. citizen
  • Must be able to work Monday through Friday, 40 hours per week, with flexibility to work weekends as required

Skills

  • Strong understanding of electrical principles and systems
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and schematics
  • Basic knowledge of Navy-specific electrical codes and standards
