Electrical Technician

Duties And Responsibilities

  • Diagnose problems, replace or repair parts, detect and replace defective control modules, test, and make all necessary adjustments.
  • Perform regular preventive maintenance on production equipment.
  • Use a variety of hand and power tools, electric meters, etc., in performing duties.
  • Safely perform duties in a high-voltage environment.
  • Comply with all safety-related procedures and processes related to exposure to electrical hazards, e.g., lockout/Tag Out, Arc Flash Hazard, and Electrostatic discharge.
  • Conduct tests and assessments of new systems and repairs to ensure quality.
  • Assemble and install electrical panels, wire harnesses, and other electrical equipment.
  • Respond quickly to all service requests and efficiently troubleshoot and repair electrical systems.
  • Install new equipment and wiring to expand infrastructure as needed.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on a regular schedule.
  • Utilize and store all equipment properly.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required Skills And Abilities

  • Must have 3-phase hands-on experience.
  • Must have experience working with 480.
  • Must be able to work overtime as needed.
  • Must be able to understand verbal and written instructions.
  • Must be able to work in a team environment.
  • Must be able to operate material handling equipment and follow safety instructions.
  • Must have a thorough understanding of basic electrical and electronic theory, National Electrical Code Standards, and troubleshooting logic and practice on AC and DC equipment and circuits.
  • Must use and read various types of instruments, meters, gauges, dials, etc.; able to read, understand electrical schematics and PLC programs, diagnose equipment problems, and determine if equipment or process is operating properly.
  • Must be able to read and interpret complex drawings and detailed specifications, etc., and carry out complicated written instructions in a safe manner.
  • Must be able to exercise good judgment and technical skill to plan and perform difficult work when working near power sources and high voltage electricity or when only general guidance is available.

Education And Experience

  • Experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred.
  • A 2-year degree in electrical technology is preferred.
  • 2+ years of experience working as an electrical technician.
  • Extensive knowledge of electrical systems, wiring, and all necessary equipment.
  • Able to read blueprints and technical drawings.
  • Proficient with manual and power tools.
