About the role
The Electrical Technician position involves assembling, evaluating, troubleshooting, and correcting deficiencies to ensure product specifications are met. Responsibilities also include ensuring work complies with relevant codes and performing preventative maintenance.
Responsibilities
- Assemble, evaluate, test, and maintain electrical or electronic wiring, equipment, appliances, and apparatus.
- Troubleshoot and repair malfunctioning equipment.
- Construct and fabricate parts, using hand tools and specifications.
- Read and interpret electrical and electrical circuit blueprints and diagrams.
- Test and troubleshoot heaters to ensure equipment is ready before shipping to customer sites.
- Correct and re-test to verify corrective action was successful.
- Communicate with electrical engineering recommendations to correct or improve processes.
- Monitor quality issues that warrant concern and encourage postponement of equipment from being shipped.
- Achieve quality results as it relates to the Company’s vision and mission.
- Promote and educate others on Astec’s core values.
- Follow company policies, procedures, and safety rules at all times.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent and/or accreditation from a technical school or an applicable skilled trades program required.
- 2-4 years working in manufacturing to understand equipment and process procedures.
- Detail-oriented, good workmanship while taking and following direction with little to no supervision.
- Demonstrated track record of working cross-functionally and as a team.
- Strong problem-solving skills desired.
- Recognition that at every level growing experience in troubleshooting is essential to evaluate and correct concerns before testing.
Qualifications
- Must be able to work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to moving mechanical parts, machinery, tools and equipment, vibration, fumes or airborne particles, motorized vehicles, welding and machining operations, outside weather conditions, and exposure to the risk of electric shock.
- May occasionally be exposed to varying levels of dirt, dust, toxic or caustic chemicals, very warm and/or very chilly temperatures.
- The noise level in the shop can be very loud at times consistent with an industrial assembly facility and may require hearing protection.
Skills
- Ability to read and interpret electrical and electrical circuit blueprints and diagrams.
- Experience with troubleshooting and repairing malfunctioning equipment.
- Good attention to detail and ability to follow directions.
- Strong problem-solving skills.
- Experience with preventative maintenance.
