Key Responsibilities
- Lead and mentor a team of electrical systems engineers responsible for spacecraft electrical systems.
- Set technical direction, priorities, and performance expectations for the team.
- Conduct performance reviews and support career development.
- Allocate resources and ensure alignment with program schedules and mission objectives.
- Act as the primary technical interface between the team, program leadership, and other engineering groups.
- Decompose mission objectives into electrical subsystem requirements and specifications.
- Define system architectures for spacecraft electrical subsystems including power distribution and computing avionics.
- Establish performance metrics for electrical systems such as timing, data throughput, power budgets, and interface compatibility.
- Develop specifications for electrical interfaces and communication buses (e.g., LVDS, RS-422, Ethernet, SPI, I2C).
- Ensure system designs address environmental constraints including radiation, thermal, and EMI/EMC considerations.
- Support system-level trade studies and design reviews.
- Oversee development of test plans and procedures for subsystem verification and validation, including HIL and SIL testing.
- Support spacecraft integration activities and troubleshoot issues during assembly and test.
- Identify technical risks and ensure appropriate mitigation strategies are implemented.
- Support anomaly investigation and resolution during spacecraft operations.
- Represent the electrical systems team in program reviews, customer interactions, and risk reviews.
- Cook with supply chain and program management to ensure components and assemblies meet program needs.
- Develop processes, tools, and best practices to improve electrical system design, analysis, and testing across the organization.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, Computer Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Physics, or related field.
- 5+ years of experience in spacecraft electrical systems design, integration, or test.
- Experience with spacecraft avionics and/or power systems.
- Demonstrated ability to develop requirements, architectures, and test plans for complex systems.
- Strong communication skills working with multidisciplinary engineering teams.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. security clearance.
