About the role

Department 482 Electrical Systems is seeking experienced engineers to oversee the development and integration of multiple VIRGINIA Class submarine electrical/electronic systems. Key responsibilities include interfacing with various engineering and design disciplines, preparing technical documents, managing project timelines, and identifying and mitigating risks.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and review procurement specifications and subcontractor statements of work to ensure requirement traceability to ship and system requirements
  • Select components and cables for use within system or parts within component
  • Support 3D product model development, review, approval, and product issue through each of the Concept, Arrangement, and Detail Design activities
  • Review test procedures and reports
  • Develop/review of hardware, software, and interface requirement specifications
  • Develop system/component technical manuals, ship system manuals, and operating instructions
  • Manage part obsolescence/lifecycle

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering or Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering with electrical experience
  • 5+ years of post-graduate engineering experience
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Word, OneNote, PowerPoint, Project, Excel, and Visio
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance through the Department of Defense

Qualifications

  • Preferred: System or component development, cabling experience, Teamcenter/NX project management, systems engineering, configuration management, knowledge of PLCs, Microsoft Project, Microsoft OneNote
  • Skills: Ability to perform project management, communicate effectively, problem-solving/engineering judgements, quality/compliance, technical reading and writing skills
