About this position

FlackTek is seeking an Electrical Systems Engineer to support the design, documentation, integration, and troubleshooting of electrical systems used in our industrial mixing and processing equipment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create and maintain electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, panel layouts, cable documentation, BOMs, and related machine documentation.
  • Support electrical system design for industrial machinery, including power distribution, safety circuits, sensors, actuators, motors, drives, control panels, and machine wiring.
  • Aid in electrical component selection based on reliability, availability, cost, manufacturability, and serviceability.
  • Support grounding, shielding, electrical noise mitigation, and clean industrial wiring practices.
  • Maintain accurate documentation through engineering release, ECO/ECR, and revision-control processes.
  • Support production and engineering teams during machine builds, electrical checkout, commissioning, and troubleshooting.
  • Wire, modify, and test prototype panels, special machine configurations, and customer-specific options.
  • Verify that electrical assemblies match released drawings, schematics, BOMs, and wiring documentation.
  • Work with controls engineers to support I/O mapping, sensor validation, drive integration, safety circuit verification, and machine bring-up.
  • Troubleshoot electrical and controls-related issues in production, testing, and service environments.
  • Investigate electrical issues and support root-cause analysis for production and field problems.
  • Use production and service feedback to improve electrical documentation, wiring practices, component selection, and system reliability.
  • Review designs and documentation for consistency with applicable electrical, machine safety, and certification requirements.
  • Support compliance efforts related to UL508A, NFPA 79, IEC/CE requirements, machine safety, and industrial control panel practices.

Required Qualifications

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, Mechatronics, Automation, or a related technical field; equivalent hands-on industrial automation or electrical systems experience may also be considered.
  • 3+ years of experience in industrial electrical systems, machine automation, controls support, electrical design, manufacturing equipment, or related hands-on technical work.
  • Experience creating, reading, and maintaining electrical schematics and wiring diagrams.
  • Experience with industrial control panels, machine wiring, sensors, actuators, motors, drives, and PLC-based systems.
  • Ability to troubleshoot electrical and controls-related issues methodically.
  • Comfortable working hands-on with machines, panels, wiring, and electrical hardware.
  • Experience with at least one electrical design or documentation tool, such as AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN, SolidWorks Electrical, or similar software.
  • Strong attention to detail in schematics, BOMs, documentation, and released engineering records.
  • Ability to work effectively with engineering, production, quality, and service teams.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with servo systems, VFDs, motion control, safety circuits, industrial networking, or PLC I/O integration.
  • Familiarity with Modbus, CANbus, EtherCAT, EtherNet/IP, or similar industrial communication protocols.
  • Exposure to UL508A, NFPA 79, IEC/CE, machine safety, or industrial control panel standards.
  • Experience supporting manufacturing, production, commissioning, or field service environments.
  • Experience with ECO/ECR processes, controlled documentation, and root-cause analysis.
