Electrical Supervisor

About the Role

Under the guidance of the General Supervisor, supervises a crew of electricians to maintain power supply in a safe and efficient manner while continuously aligning daily functions to reflect Kinross’ values. The position is based at the Round Mountain open-pit mine in Nevada, one of the world’s premier mining jurisdictions. The mine uses conventional open-pit methods and processes ore by mill and heap leach. Kinross has operated the mine since 2003, and it has become a continuous-improvement leader in the company’s portfolio, pouring its 15 millionth ounce in 2018. Round Mountain and the nearby Bald Mountain mine comprise Kinross’ Nevada operations, contributing significantly to the Nye County economy and collaborating with local stakeholders to improve healthcare and education in the area.

Responsibilities

• Assign crews to specific tasks to meet daily maintenance goals.
• Apply electrical theory and latest technology for high-voltage equipment.
• Effectively manage and develop electricians to maximize crew efficiency and safety.
• Supervise crew activities during shifts to ensure safe and efficient accomplishment of assignments.
• Conduct effective safety meetings and constantly monitor crew activities for safe operations.
• Develop crew skills to levels of maximum efficiency and safety.
• Help develop other department personnel to perform duties listed above.
• Comply with all company policies and procedures, including Safety, Environmental, confidentiality, and code of conduct.
• Meet or exceed established performance expectations set by management.
• Exercise discretion and judgment in job performance.
• Maintain a safe work environment, ensuring no risk or harm to self and others.
• Perform other related functions as assigned by supervisor.

Requirements

• Associate degree in Electrical or completion of an Apprenticeship program.
• General understanding of mining operations, with limited understanding of milling and maintenance operations.
• Working knowledge and skill with PCs, including word processing, spreadsheet, database, and presentation software.
• Strong verbal, written, analytical, and persuasive skills, with the ability to interact effectively at all levels of employees and management.
• Ability to work independently and as a member of the management team.
• Strong administrative, organizational, and technical writing skills.
• Ability to meet the physical demands outlined in the attached physical demands sheets.
• Valid driver’s license issued by a state agency or ability to pass a driver competency course and exam.
• Punctuality and regular attendance required.
