Key Responsibilities
- Serve as CALTEC’s Responsible Managing Employee for the C-10 Electrical classification.
- Exercise supervision and control over electrical work performed by CALTEC.
- Supervise electrical foremen, electricians, apprentices, subcontractors, and other field personnel.
- Review electrical plans, specifications, addenda, RFIs, submittals, and approved changes.
- Plan electrical work activities, manpower, materials, equipment, and installation sequencing.
- Make technical and administrative decisions related to electrical construction.
- Monitor work for compliance with the California Electrical Code, project requirements, approved plans, and applicable safety regulations.
- Inspect installations for quality, completeness, and proper workmanship.
- Cover shutdowns, cutovers, energization, testing, commissioning, and inspections.
- Work with project managers, superintendents, owners, inspectors, design teams, utilities, and subcontractors.
- Identify incomplete, noncompliant, or defective electrical work and develop corrective-action plans.
- Aid with estimating, scope review, constructability review, procurement, scheduling, and change-order pricing.
- Maintain documentation of field conditions, inspections, testing, corrections, and completed work.
- Support CALTEC’s public works project.
- Promote safe work practices and enforce CALTEC’s safety requirements.
Required Qualifications
- Eligible to serve as a California C-10 Responsible Managing Employee.
- Meet CSLB experience and examination requirements for the C-10 Electrical classification.
- At least four years of qualifying electrical experience at the journey-level, foreman, supervisor, contractor, or equivalent level within the applicable CSLB experience period.
- Strong knowledge of commercial and industrial electrical systems.
- Experience supervising electrical crews and managing electrical construction in the field.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, one-line diagrams, specifications, panel schedules, and control diagrams.
- Knowledge of electrical permitting, testing, inspections, commissioning, and code requirements.
- Ability to document qualifying experience for CSLB review.
- Willingness to complete CSLB fingerprinting, testing, bonding, and application requirements.
- Able to work full-time as a bona fide W-2 employee of CALTEC.
- Available to actively supervise CALTEC’s electrical contracting operations.
- Not serving as the qualifier for another active California contractor license while serving as CALTEC’s RME.
- If the candidate has an active California sole-owner contractor license, willing and able to place that license on inactive status as required by CSLB.
- Valid California driver’s license and reliable transportation.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Current or prior California C-10 license or qualifying-individual status.
- Prior experience serving as an RME, RMO, or qualifying individual.
- Experience with public works and prevailing-wage projects.
- Experience working at airports, municipal facilities, universities, transportation facilities, or other secured environments.
- Experience with power distribution, lighting, branch power, transformers, switchgear, generators, low-voltage coordination, fire alarm interfaces, access control interfaces, and equipment controls.
- OSHA 30 certification.
- Experience coordinating union electrical labor.
- Familiarity with certified payroll, project labor agreements, and apprenticeship requirements.
- Strong estimating, scheduling, and change-management experience.
