Responsibilities
- Develops, implements, and maintains the project safety program for a safe work environment. Creates and influences safety culture as a mentor and model.
- Counsels job site tours and safety inspections and leads by example to ensure that policies, procedures, environmental programs and safety standards are followed.
- Liaises with clients to ensure that projects are constructed as per quality and safety standards, and contract.
- Leads to secure new work by participating in estimates, working with trade contractors, and/or participating in proposals and presentations.
- Oversees the development and implementation of quality management plan and quality culture with stakeholder buy-in.
- Understands client drivers and offers value engineering proposals for functionality, cost, and/or schedule benefit to the client while maintaining value-added outcomes as part of our solution provider service where warranted.
- Develops or oversees the Project Execution Plan (PEP) with the superintendent.
- Coordinates, monitors, and manages design deliverable schedule to facilitate and/or assist with permits, procurement, shop drawings, off-site production, construction and commissioning in conjunction with the review and signoff by the client.
- Conducts review of design and seeks resolution from the design team with respect to compliance, scope creep, cost optimization, code requirements, procurement, safety in design, construction sequencing, and constructability.
- Conducts review of design documentation, leveraging the necessary team members, and seeks resolution from the design team with respect to level of design completeness, accuracy, and quality as applicable to various design stages and construction.
- Oversees and monitors project performance status reports for schedule, costs, equipment, manpower, materials, safety and environment, cost forecast, and quality control, and QUEST programs.
- Makes sure that project time, cost, and quality objectives are met by monitoring production and reviewing work of assigned resources.
- Identifies scope gaps, technical risk, and areas requiring interdisciplinary coordination from the design documents.
Qualifications
- Postsecondary education or training in engineering, construction management, or a related discipline.
- Gold Seal certification (CDN).
- 15+ years of progressive construction experience with multiple contract delivery types as a leader and mentor preferred.
- 12 months of estimating or related experience preferred.
- In-depth knowledge and application of safety and environment principles/ procedures/legislation.
- In-depth knowledge of construction industry and company operations, including building materials, construction specifications, methods and procedures, safety and quality management practices for large, complex, and more diverse projects.
- Experience with diverse project types, delivery and construction methods, and sequencing and timelines.
- Strong knowledge of and ability to apply project construction laws and building codes and to leverage such knowledge.
- Understanding of and experience with collective agreements and jurisdiction assignment for multi-trade sites.
- Thorough understanding of insurance, bonding, and legal requirements.
- Effective verbal, written, presentation, and communication skills.
- Demonstrated flexibility and ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to monitor and forecast project resources and staffing for the project.
- Ability to identify staffing and hourly labor issues.
Pay
The estimated salary range for this role is $170,000 - $210,000, based on your experience and qualifications. Final compensation will be confirmed as part of a personalized offer.
