Electrical Safety Manager/Electrical Authority Having Jurisdiction

We are seeking an Electrical Safety Manager/Electrical Authority Having Jurisdiction to join our team in Oak Ridge, TN.

About the role

• Stops work without fear of reprisal for unsafe conditions potentially affecting personnel safety or environmental risk.
• Participates in the hiring process to ensure positions are staffed with personnel who possess the appropriate education and experience, and who can meet training and qualification requirements.
• Manages the activities, professional development, and performance of personnel within the department.
• Maintains knowledge and interprets requirements of the National Electrical Code (NFPA 70), Standard for Electrical Safety in the Workplace (NFPA 70E), National Electrical Safety Code (ANSI C2), 29 CFR 1910 Subpart S, 29 CFR 1926 Subparts K and V, DOE Order 6430.1A, and other applicable codes, regulations, and standards.
• Approves electrical equipment, wiring methods, installations, and utilization equipment for compliance; coordinates with ES&H management and DOE area or field office.
• Permits alternate methods where equivalent safety objectives can be achieved, ensuring safety equal to or exceeding established codes and standards.
• Maintains Configuration Management on Electrical Equipment.
• Manages and implements the Electrical Safety and Unlisted Equipment Approval programs.
• Evaluates and approves equipment not listed or certified by a Nationally Recognized Testing Laboratory; determines safety for intended use based on nationally recognized standards (e.g., UL 508A).
• Certifies AHJ Inspectors and Qualified Electrical Workers; approves qualification requirements and provides electrical training guidance.
• Serves as the electrical subject matter expert on design, procurement, construction, installation, testing, and safety matters.
• Consults with experts in other areas (e.g., fire, nuclear safety, ES&H) before decisions on matters outside electrical expertise.
• Supports the execution of the Integrated Safety Management System (ISMS) guiding principles and core functions, and the Isotek Safety Culture.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related Science.
• 8 years of discipline-appropriate design, maintenance, and/or construction work, including requirements documentation, detailed design, implementation, system integration, testing, and on-site startup.
• 1 year of nuclear experience.
• Executive ability and knowledge of standards and work practices for installation, operations, construction, testing, and maintenance of electrical equipment and systems.
• Technical ownership of discipline, design, and functionality.
• Cognizance of technology applicable to the U-233 Project mission.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office.
• Strong communication (verbal and written) skills.
• Develops designs and procedures appropriate for the application; maintains knowledge and configuration management of as-built structures, systems, and components.
• Ability to satisfy Isotek training and qualification requirements, including DOE-STD-1170-2003 Electrical Systems Functional Area Qualification Standard.
• Must be a U.S. citizen, eligible for a federal background investigation, and able to obtain and maintain a Q clearance.
• Must have Real ID-compliant identification to access the work location.

Pay

Expected compensation range is between $141,000 - $235,000 annually, depending on skills, experience, and geographical location.
