Electrical Project Engineer
About the role
IMEG is hiring an Electrical Project Engineer in Chicago, IL, to lead design efforts as a project manager or lead engineer on low to moderate complexity projects while collaborating with senior staff on larger and high complexity work.
Responsibilities
- Lead design efforts for the analysis and design of electrical systems for building projects
- Create detailed designs, specifications, and calculations using engineering software and tools in accordance with code requirements and IMEG standards
- Partner with clients to understand needs, gather project requirements, communicate technical information, and build professional relationships
- Support project planning, budgeting, and execution as part of a consulting project team
- Implement IMEG quality control processes to ensure designs meet firm, industry, and client standards
- Stay current on industry trends, emerging technologies, and electrical engineering best practices, and contribute to innovation efforts
- Prioritize safety in all aspects of engineering work and identify potential risks associated with electrical systems
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including engineers, architects, and project managers, to deliver integrated solutions
- Identify potential project issues and seek guidance from the Project Manager as needed
- Support projects through bidding and construction administration phases
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Electrical Engineering, or equivalent required
- Professional Engineer (PE) License required
- 5 years of experience minimum required, 6 preferred, in the building design consulting industry
- Proficiency in design techniques, tools, and concepts involved in the production of technical plans and specifications
- Strong technical and analytical skills including knowledge of principles relating to circuit theory, electromagnetism, power systems, and electronics as they relate to electrical systems design for buildings
- Proficient with industry standard engineering software and tools including lighting photometric calculation software such as AGI, Elum Tools, Visual Lighting, or other; power system analysis and design software such as SKM/PTW, Easy Power, or other; and energy compliance software such as ComCheck.
- Knowledge of Illumination Engineering Society (IES) Standards
- Knowledge of Master Specification editing and software such as eSPECS, BIM software, and CTC Revit Add In Tools; Proficiency of Smart Engineering Design Assist (SET) Tools within Revit for electrical calculations, coordination, properties, etc.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; Ability to clearly communicate in both oral and written communication to individuals or groups
- Attention to detail and problem-solving skills
- Ability to train and mentor less experienced staff
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
- Proficient with MS Office Suite including but not limited to Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Ability to travel up to 10% with occasional overnight stays

Pay
Salary Range: $98,000 – $128,000 Minimums and maximums may vary based on location. Individual pay will be based on several factors including experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant.
