Principal Responsibilities

Lead design efforts for electrical systems analysis, creating detailed designs, specifications, and calculations per code and IMEG standards.
Interact with clients to gather requirements, communicate technical information, and build strong relationships.
Manage project planning, budgeting, and scheduling to meet deadlines and objectives.
Document design decisions and monitor project progress relative to budget and percent complete.
Analyze engineering problems, propose solutions, and collaborate with senior engineers and consultants.
Conduct in-process design reviews and implement IMEG quality control processes.
Stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in electrical engineering.
Prioritize safety and identify potential risks in all engineering work.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver integrated project solutions.
Identify project issues and seek guidance from the Project Manager.
Oversee projects through bidding and construction administration phases.

Required Qualifications And Skills

  • Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Electrical Engineering, or equivalent, required
  • Professional Engineer (PE) License required
  • 5 years of experience minimum required, 6 preferred, in the building design consulting industry
  • Proficiency in design techniques, tools, and concepts involved in the production of technical plans and specifications
  • Strong technical and analytical skills including knowledge of principles relating to circuit theory, electromagnetism, power systems, and electronics as they relate to electrical systems design for buildings
  • Proficient with industry standard engineering software and tools including lighting photometric calculation software such as AGI, Elum Tools, Visual Lighting, or other; power system analysis and design software such as SKM/PTW, Easy Power, or other; energy code compliance and software such as ComCheck; Adobe or Bluebeam Revu
  • Knowledge of Illumination Engineering Society (IES) Standards
  • Knowledge of Master Specification editing and software such as eSPECS, Building Information Model software, and CTC Revit Add In Tools; Proficiency of Smart Engineering Design Assist (SET) Tools within Revit for electrical calculations, coordination, properties, etc.
  • Strong training and mentoring skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; Ability to clearly communicate in both oral and written communication to individuals or groups
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
  • Proficient with MS Office Suite including but not limited to Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Ability to travel up to 15% with occasional overnight stays
