Job Summary

The Electrical Engineer (NPDI ECAD) is responsible for designing electrical parts for Switchboard / Switchgear product lines. They support the design from start to finish and provide technical guidance to Supply chain and Material Management in global and local locations to support New Product Development and sustaining products. The Electrical Engineer works with local and global teams both within Vertiv.

Responsibilities

  • Designs control systems and low voltage electrical enclosures
  • Supports electrical design for new product development
  • Creates and maintains components in the design tools
  • Works with contract resources and/or manufacturers for prototype/production builds
  • Develops test cases for electrical safety testing of products
  • Coordinates CE / UL testing of products
  • Collaborates with other groups, including Mechanical Engineers, firmware & software developers, system test, customer support, and manufacturing

Requirements

  • Good knowledge on working with DC / AC Power Equipment, mainly, 24V – 48Vdc / 400V-3ph-50Hz / 480V-3Ph-60Hz
  • 2-3 years of experience in control wiring design and implementation
  • 2-3 years of experience using Electrical panel Life cycle management or Product documentation management tools
  • Proficiency in writing functional requirements and documenting designs
  • Experience with ELCAD schematic or similar tools
  • Ability to debug, validate, and develop/support manufacturing tests in electrical equipment
  • Experience in design for testability and manufacturability
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills are necessary
  • Effective team member, consistent positive attitude, creativity
  • Travel Required: 10%
