About the role
The Power Engineer serves as a member of a team responsible for the design, installation, operation, and lifecycle maintenance of advanced countermeasures systems, primarily at overseas diplomatic facilities.
Responsibilities
- Builds and configures countermeasures to ensure proper functionality and operation
- Manages hardware and software configuration changes to ensure interoperability of highly technical equipment
- Provides technical support for all phases of countermeasures systems—pre-installation, installation, and post-installation
- Coordinates all reporting, including pre- and post-trip technical reports and summaries
- Assists in the evaluation and development of new countermeasure systems and test equipment
- Documents capabilities, identifies potential limitations, and makes recommendations for improvement
- Supports the training of Department of State personnel in the maintenance, installation, and operation of specific countermeasures
- Conducts independent research on emerging technologies, as well as laboratory or field testing with minimal oversight
- Aids in the drafting and review of technical security policies and operational guidelines
- Gathers information on new technologies
- Participates in project design and review meetings
Requirements
- Active Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility (SSBI less than 4.5 years old)
- Minimum ten years of work experience in power, electrical engineering, or physics
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience
- Demonstrated experience working with data throughout its lifecycle, including collection, management, analysis, reporting, and secure disposition
- Intermediate skills in Microsoft Project, Visio, and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- Understanding of Internet of Things (IoT), operational technology (OT), security systems, and current industry trends
- Ability to work independently and as a member of a team, demonstrating a positive attitude
- Strong attention to detail, ability to multi-task efficiently, and work in a fast-paced environment on multiple projects
- Ability to read, interpret, and create electrical and electromechanical schematics, including building systems drawings
- Familiarity with MATLAB, Python, C++, or other programming languages is a plus
