Responsibilities
- Provide hands‑on PLC, HMI, controls, and automation programming and troubleshooting support across the mill.
- Assess, integrate, and upgrade legacy control systems—including Allen‑Bradley PLC‑5 platforms—to improve reliability and performance.
- Lead, mentor, and prioritize the day‑to‑day work of five electricians with a strong focus on safety, quality, and efficiency.
- Write logic, design, build, and implement control systems from the ground up for mill improvement and capital projects.
- Collaborate with maintenance, operations, and planning teams to resolve equipment issues, manage electrical work through EAM, and improve machine‑centre performance.
Qualifications
- Strong hands‑on experience with PLCs and industrial controls, including troubleshooting, logic development, and building control systems from scratch.
- Required experience with Allen‑Bradley systems; exposure to Siemens controls, Toshiba drives, and legacy PLC‑5 systems is an asset.
- Comprehensive knowledge of industrial electrical systems, variable‑frequency drives, AC/DC motors, motor controls, and instrumentation.
- Demonstrated technical leadership or supervisory experience.
- Excellent problem‑solving, communication, and organizational skills; availability for occasional weekend and project‑related work.

Schedule
Primarily Monday‑to‑Friday schedule with occasional weekend and project‑related work.
