Position Summary
Responsible for installing, troubleshooting and repairing electrical systems and wiring for manufacturing equipment, as well as providing preventative maintenance associated with electrical issues.
Job Requirements
- Education and Experience:
- High school diploma, GED or equivalent
- Associate degree or technical apprenticeship preferred
- Advance education in fields related to the job (electrical, electronic, pneumatic systems and hydraulic controls)
- Journeyman or Master Electrician license preferred
- Knowledge:
- Familiarity with PLC programming
- Knowledge of NEC requirements
Duties and Responsibilities

- Observe installed systems to detect hazards and determine the need for adjustments or modifications.
- Knowledge of, experience with and willingness to work on electrical mechanical systems, hydraulic systems, pneumatic systems, robots, conveyors, augers, gearboxes, boilers and dryers.
- Have knowledge of and use the required personal protective equipment to protect against arc flash and shock.
- Determine the existence of electrical hazards and problems.
- Safely isolate, ground and prepare circuits and electrical apparatus to enable repairs.
- Perform effective equipment Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO).
Additional Duties and Responsibilities
- Read/interpret engineering drawings, wiring diagrams and manuals to install, calibrate and maintain electrical apparatus.
- Work from complex engineering and manufacturers drawings or manuals to complete projects and assigned work.
- Ability to use both Mechanical/Electrical hand tools and power tools.
- Ability to use and/or willingness to perform work using Ladders and mobile equipment such as: fork trucks, manlifts, scissor lifts and cranes.
- Ability to use and/or willingness to be trained to do rigging using chains, shackles, lifting eyes, slings, come-a-longs, chain falls and cranes as necessary to disassemble and reassemble equipment.
- Ability to use calipers, micrometers, torque wrenches and other specialized tools to help troubleshoot, diagnose and determine root causes of equipment failures.
- Ability to use electrical/electronic testing equipment to such as multi-meters, ammeters, megohm meters, high potential testers, oscilloscopes, digital probes to troubleshoot and repair equipment.
- Troubleshoot and repair/maintain motor control centers, motor start circuits, control loops, generators, high voltage switchgear, protective relaying, and related equipment, transformers, transfer switches and switch gears.
- Install and maintain control and distribution apparatus, such as switches, relays, circuit breakers, and control panels.
- Troubleshoot and/or modify PLC control logic as necessary.
- Install and calibrate pressure, temperature, flow, and level controls.
- Install and maintain drive systems such as variable frequency drives, eddy current, and DC drives.
- Install and maintain programmable logic control systems (PLC).
- Run conduit, pull wires/cables and wire termination.
- Run computer cables, connect computer jacks and plugs and test for adequate operation.
- Remain in compliance with the current National Electrical Code.
- Effectively communicate problems and solutions to resolve electrical problems.
- Absorb and implement preventative maintenance programs for plant equipment.
- Maintain records, update drawings, and develop safety procedures.
- Observe safe work practices and ensure work does not endanger others.
- Complete work orders and record material utilized on job.
- Use computerized maintenance system to retrieve and enter information.
- Absorb and assist with preventative maintenance as assigned.

Essential Qualifications
- Electrical and Mechanical mindset
- 5 years’ experience in similar maintenance roles
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to prepare and deliver clear, concise reports that are understandable by the target audience
- Ability to prioritize tasks and escalate them when appropriate
- Ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced quickly changing environment
- Time management skills
- Strong computer skills that include proficiency with MS Office (Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint) and PLC’s Language Skills
- Ability to read, write, and speak English; bilingual in Spanish preferred
