Electrical Maintenance Tech

About the role

As a member of the BCP Maintenance Team, the Electrical Maintenance Technician is primarily responsible for maintaining and repairing production equipment. Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, the technician will develop and implement maintenance programs to ensure short-term and long-term reliability of equipment, optimize maintenance costs, maximize equipment availability, and reduce unsafe conditions.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain all electrical control problems for manufacturing equipment.
• Troubleshoot machine malfunctions using electronic and PLC techniques.
• Perform routine, emergency, and preventive maintenance on all electrical equipment and parts.
• Study equipment manuals to develop audit items and preventive maintenance schedules.
• Install or assist in the installation of new equipment, including proper layout and alignment.
• Conduct preventive maintenance checks and inspections as required and on time.
• Identify, research, prepare, and present solutions to control problems and continuous improvement projects.
• Evaluate equipment malfunctions with urgency to minimize downtime.
• Install, replace, or change machine parts and attachments according to production specifications.
• Modify equipment as necessary to improve safety, quality, productivity, and reliability.
• Perform Roll Grinder duties, including safely preparing applicator and squeegee rolls per standard work to support coating quality and paint line production.
• Perform tasks to meet or exceed internal customers’ requirements.
• Communicate professionally with plant personnel regarding repair steps, parts ordered, and estimated completion times.
• Maintain proper housekeeping standards for work area, equipment, and tools.
• Engage in cross-functional maintenance training and knowledge sharing to strengthen team capability and operational resilience.
• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High school diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED).
• Journeyman licensed with 5+ years of experience in an industrial electrical maintenance position.
• PLC experience, preferably Allen Bradley (SLC 500, RSlogix 5/500/5000, PLC5, ControlLogix, Micrologix, and Panelview systems).
• Strong electrical knowledge (circuit breakers and fixtures).
• Demonstrated fault-finding experience.
• Proficient in reading blueprints and schematics.
• Proficient communication skills, particularly explaining complex electrical issues.
• Ability to perform physically demanding work, including climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, twisting, and bending for extended periods.
• Reliability, dependability, and self-motivation.

Qualifications

Desired Qualifications:

• Metals, coating, roll forming, or industrial maintenance experience.

Skills

• Strong computer proficiency, including learning and using new systems.
• Practical aptitude in diagnosing and resolving equipment issues; ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a team.
• Professional communication skills.
• Ability to learn processes, equipment specifications, and company standards through manuals, training, policies, and collaboration.
• Ability to work up to 12-hour shifts.
• Ability to pass a background check and drug test as a condition of employment.

Work Environment

The employee may be required to enter areas near moving mechanical parts, with occasional exposure to hazardous chemicals and extreme temperatures. The noise level is moderate and may require hearing protection. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is required in certain manufacturing areas.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear and frequently walk. The employee may occasionally stand, sit, bend, stoop, use hands to handle tools or controls, reach with hands and arms, climb, or balance. The employee must be capable of lifting a minimum of 75 pounds. Specific vision abilities include close-up and distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.

Pay

$36.00/hr - $37.50/hr
