Responsibilities

  • Drafts and designs advanced building systems, prepares design documents, and performs engineering calculations.
  • Leads project and design efforts from concept design through completion, reviews shop drawings, and evaluates products for feasibility.
  • Evaluates and recommends solutions to complex engineering problems and design challenges.
  • Trains, mentors, and provides leadership to design staff, including overseeing and guiding others.
  • Takes responsibility for the success of those under their supervision, makes staffing recommendations, and implements design and engineering standards.
  • Develops and implements tools, resources, and company practices.
  • Develops and maintains relationships with strategic partners and customers to expand business opportunities.
  • Fosters a client-centric mindset and approach, communicates with clients, and resolves conflicts involving owners, architects, and contractors.
  • Identifies and fills gaps in industry knowledge, shares information, and applies technical and process improvements.
  • Performs project management responsibilities, coordinates project delivery, and manages project coordination activities.
  • Manages emails, coordinates scope and schedule, and attends client meetings.
  • Ensures project quality and responds to client questions.
  • Consistently performs to industry-wide expectations as a Professional Engineer or Engineer of Record, including making reasonable engineering decisions and delivering high-quality work.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering (mechanical, electrical, fire protection, or architectural) or equivalent experience.
  • PE license required.
  • Additional certifications and accreditations aligned with the relevant technical field.
  • Advanced knowledge and proficiency in engineering design, A&E industry, codes, design guides, and standards.
  • Proficiency in Revit and Bluebeam Revu.
  • High technical aptitude, ability to learn and utilize various systems and processes, and comfortability in training others.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills, and ability to communicate clearly with designers at all levels.
  • Effective critical thinking and problem-solving skills, and willingness to adapt to changing work environments and priorities.
  • Physical requirements include prolonged periods of sitting or standing at a desk and working on a computer, occasional travel, and ability to read, write, and communicate in English.

Qualifications

  • 9+ years of relevant experience or 10 years with a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam preferred.
  • Knowledge of earned value, contracts, and construction processes and methods.
  • Comfortable with training others on systems and processes.
  • Self-starter, proactive, and willing to teach, manage, and help others as needed.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and engineering design software applicable to your discipline or focus.
