About the role
The Instrumentation Technician will perform work activities pertaining to automation, electrical safety, reliability standards, inspection, preventive maintenance, and continuous improvement.
Responsibilities
- Understands, participates, and follows all applicable safety standards & programs.
- Uses electronics and electrical test devices to test equipment for safety and efficiency.
- Performs electrical repairs on various types of electrical equipment per SOP’s and PM’s. Including 480Vac, 3-phase and 120Vac, single phase equipment.
- Read, understand, and generate standard electrical schematics.
- Create and modify PLC and HMI programs.
- Select, install, configure and calibrate industrial instruments and devices.
- Bend, hang and run conduit where needed.
- Pull electrical cable and wire in conduit.
- Transport and stack conduit and electrical wire as needed.
- Train operators on new systems and update LOTO and SOP information.
Requirements
- A high school diploma or GED.
- An associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school preferred.
- Two to three years related experience and/or training preferred.
Physical Requirements/Work Environment
- Frequent lifting and/or moving up to 10 pounds, occasionally lifting and/or moving up to 50 pounds, and may occasionally lift or move heavier objects with assistance.
- Positioning to operate, inspect, troubleshoot, repair, and/or maintain heavy plant equipment.
- Working around moving mechanical parts, at elevated heights, where dust and fumes could be present in the air, with or in proximity to chemicals, in hot environments, around electrical equipment, and in a loud environment.
