Job Functions
- Installing, maintaining, testing, evaluating, and repairing various electrical components and systems including low voltage automation systems
- Test electrical systems and equipment to ensure functionality and safety
- Troubleshoot and repair or replace faulty wiring, motors, switches, breakers, and related components
- Read and interpret electrical blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance to minimize equipment failures
- Ensure compliance with applicable electrical codes, standards and safety regulations
- Collaborate with other maintenance and production staff to resolve low-voltage electrical issues
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance and repair work
- Install, calibrate, and maintain field instrumentation including: pressure, temperature, level, and flow transmitters
- Troubleshoot and repair control valves, actuators, switches, analyzers, and PLC-based control systems
- Interpret P&IDs, loop diagrams, wiring diagrams, and instrumentation datasheets
- Perform loop checks and function tests during shutdowns, turnarounds, and new installations
- Maintain accurate calibration and instrumentation records
- Aid in maintenance and troubleshooting of DCS, PLC, SIS, and SCADA systems
- Monitor control system alarms, process deviations, and equipment performance
- Support plant upgrades, modifications, and system optimization initiatives
- Follow all refinery safety policies including lockout/tagout (LOTO), confined space entry, hot work permits
- Participate in hazard assessments, toolbox talks, and safety meetings
- Comply with environmental, reliability, and operational standards
- May require overtime or on-call work to handle emergency repairs
Qualifications
- Diploma or Associate Degree in Electrical, Instrumentation, Electronics, or a related technical field
- 3 years of I&E experience in an industrial environment
- Strong knowledge of industrial electrical systems (low voltage)
- Proficiency in calibration and maintenance of industrial instruments
- Familiarity with PLCs (e.g., Allen-Bradley, Siemens), DCS platforms (Honeywell, Emerson), and safety systems
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics and manuals
- Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and communication skills
- Be fit to perform the essential functions of the job including working in an industrial work environment that may include loud areas, work around rotating equipment/operating equipment/heavy equipment, extreme temperatures, dust, work at heights, entry into confined spaces, and other potential chemical/atmospheric hazards that require use of appropriate PPE
- Requires ability to perform physical tasks including frequent walking, standing for extended periods of time, climbing ladders or stairs, and lifting or carrying items weighing up to 40 lbs.
