Electrical Instructor at FCI Fort Dix

Southern Careers Institute (SCI) is seeking an Electrical Instructor to deliver instruction, conduct classroom and lab activities, and coordinate curriculum for inmates at Federal Correctional Institute (FCI Fort Dix). The instructor will prepare inmates for the workplace upon release by teaching the Electrical program, adhering to institutional policies, and maintaining required records.

Responsibilities

• Serve as lead instructor for the assigned teaching field and curriculum program.
• Work cooperatively with administration, students, and support personnel to train and place students.
• Practice excellence in teaching and instruction; prepare lesson plans and teach courses as prescribed by the approved curriculum.
• Issue lab assignments, administer tests, and maintain student grade records.
• Conduct classes in a professional and educational environment while enforcing school and prison policies.
• Exhibit reliability through good attendance and punctuality (starting and ending class on time).
• Maintain proper discipline and order in the classroom with assistance from prison personnel.
• Motivate students to learn and engage with the material.
• Demonstrate professional growth and academic currency.
• Assist with problem-solving for student issues.
• Adhere to special policies, procedures, and expectations set by the Federal Bureau of Prisons and Department of Justice.
• Attend all safety, security, and training meetings required by FCI Fort Dix; failure to comply may result in immediate termination.

Requirements

• Minimum 5 years of experience working as an Electrician.
• Certified Technician License (Department Licensing and Regulation).
• Demonstrated experience and proficiency in installation and repair of commercial and residential electrical systems.
• Compliance with Homeland Security and Federal procedures, including background checks.
• Adherence to all health and safety requirements of FCI Fort Dix, including vaccination and mask mandates.
• Ability to maintain acceptable performance during emergencies and notify supervisors of absences due to health emergencies.
• Strict compliance with FCI Fort Dix and Federal Bureau of Prisons policies; violations may result in immediate termination.
