About the role
SAFEbuilt is seeking a dynamic individual to join our team as a Building Official. This position is responsible for overseeing building codes and regulations, conducting inspections, and ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal building standards.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the implementation and enforcement of building codes and regulations
- Conduct routine and special inspections of construction projects to ensure compliance with building codes and safety standards
- Review and approve plans and permits for construction projects
- Provide technical guidance and training to contractors and developers on building codes and safety standards
- Respond to complaints and inquiries related to building code compliance
- Participate in public meetings and provide input on zoning and land use issues
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Architecture, Engineering, or a related field
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in building inspection or related field
- Knowledge of local, state, and federal building codes and regulations
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
Qualifications
- Experience with building permit processing and plan review
- Knowledge of construction materials and techniques
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite

Pay
$80,000 - $90,000 annually
