About the role
The Electrical Inspector is assigned to a project and remains on-site for the duration of the assignment. This role supports the construction and commissioning of utility-scale solar projects with a major energy business.
Responsibilities
- Carry out inspections of electrical installation activities to ensure compliance with project specifications, NEC, NESC, NFPA, and applicable regulations.
- Verify the quality and workmanship of DC and AC collection systems, medium-voltage infrastructure, inverters, transformers, substations, grounding systems, conduit, cable installations, terminations, and SCADA systems.
- Review construction activities against approved drawings, specifications, and quality standards.
- Identify, document, and track inspection findings, deficiencies, punch-list items, and corrective actions.
- Prepare daily and weekly inspection reports and maintain accurate quality records.
- Support testing, commissioning, energization, and project handover activities.
- Work closely with construction, engineering, commissioning, and HSE teams to resolve quality-related issues.
- Promote a strong site safety culture and ensure compliance with site safety procedures and lockout/tagout requirements.
Requirements
- Minimum 5 years of experience in electrical construction, inspection, QA/QC, or a related field.
- Experience within utility-scale solar, power generation, or renewable energy projects is preferred.
- Strong background in interpreting electrical drawings, schematics, and single-line diagrams.
- Knowledge of electrical testing and commissioning practices.
- Able to work independently in a fast-paced construction environment.
- Strong attention to detail, reporting, and technical documentation capability.
- Effective communication and problem-solving skills.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Technical or electrical education is preferred.
- Valid driving license and willingness to travel to project sites.
Technical Skills & Tools
- Strong knowledge of NEC, NESC, NFPA, and relevant industry electrical standards.
- Experience inspecting DC and AC electrical systems within large-scale energy projects.
- Familiarity with medium-voltage systems.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and project documentation systems.
- Understanding of construction quality standards, commissioning activities, and energisation processes.
