Responsibilities
- Supervise electrical installations for street lighting, signals, or capital construction projects.
- Ensure contract compliance and billing accuracy; review related plans and specifications.
- Direct and follow up on the issuance of street lighting orders, enforcement compliance, and related inspections.
- Interface with outside city agencies, explain standards, and inspect materials and installed equipment.
- Supervise construction performed by contractors.
- Investigate complaints, monitor site improvements, and check repairs and installations.
- Prepare Street Light and/or Signals Maintenance contracts.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Four years of full‑time satisfactory experience in the installation, repair, and/or inspection of electrical equipment, with at least two years involving a large building or facility of at least 100,000 sq ft (or multiple buildings of at least three stories totaling 100,000 sq ft).
- Or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- A baccalaureate degree in engineering or engineering technology may substitute for experience (5 semester credits per two months of experience, up to 60 credits).
- At least two years of the required experience in the installation, repair, and/or inspection of electrical equipment in the specified building/facility size.
- Or one year of full‑time satisfactory experience working for a city agency or authority governed by the Personnel Rules and Regulations of the City of New York performing the full range of duties in the installation, repair, and/or inspection of electrical equipment and/or systems in buildings, grounds, and/or facilities.
- Experience primarily as an apprentice, helper, or laborer does not satisfy the qualification requirements.
- Valid New York State motor vehicle driver’s license by the time of appointment (must be maintained throughout employment).
Preferred Skills
- Experience performing detailed internal audits.
- Technical proficiency with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
- Detail‑oriented, highly organized, and self‑motivated.
- Strong analytical, organizational, communication, and writing skills.
- Preference given to candidates possessing a New York State driver’s license.
Pay
$66,330.00 – $99,528.00
