About the role

You will be a member of our multi-disciplinary team and will work under the direction of a licensed engineer. Projects may include new construction and renovation in educational, healthcare, sports, corporate commercial and science and technology.

Responsibilities

  • Perform basic to moderately complex construction drawings and specifications of electrical engineering systems for building construction.
  • Under limited supervision, design lighting, power distribution, communications and/or telecommunication systems for healthcare, education/higher education and commercial clients, including fire alarm systems.
  • Analyze engineering documents and layout systems in regard to components and parts.
  • Research and respond to design issues.
  • Participate in value engineering sessions with Architectural/Engineering team.
  • Apply knowledge of electrical code for the application of building power distribution design and circuiting.
  • Recommend improvements with reference standards and processes to improve quality, coordination, and to streamline production efforts.
  • Assists in the review and markup of shop drawings and submittals.
  • Assists in gathering information to respond to RFI’s and review of change orders in the preparation of construction documents.
  • Conduct job site visits to verify existing conditions and observe construction progress. Site visits frequently require a physical walk-through of site.
  • May perform other related tasks as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor or Master's degree in Engineering required.
  • Bachelor or Master's degree in Engineering from an ABET accredited program preferred.
  • Minimum of 4 years of related experience required.
  • EIT/FE preferred.
  • LEED accreditation preferred.

Qualifications

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Able to effectively handle multiple projects.
  • Experience in computer applications for engineering design programs (i.e. Revit) required.

Skills

  • Knowledge of electrical code for the application of building power distribution design and circuiting.
  • Ability to analyze engineering documents and layout systems in regard to components and parts.
  • Ability to research and respond to design issues.
  • Ability to participate in value engineering sessions with Architectural/Engineering team.
  • Ability to assist in the review and markup of shop drawings and submittals.

Benefits

  • The salary range for this position to be filled in the Chicago, IL office is $66,595.00 - $83,220.00.
