About the Role

Responsible for installation of electrical systems to project specifications under the direction of an Electrical Journeyman and Foreman.

Responsibilities

  • Install raceway systems to meet project production standards.
  • Measure, cut, bend, thread, assemble, and install electrical conduit; weld supports; install cable and duct banks.
  • Pull wire through conduit and connect wiring to lighting fixtures and power equipment as required.
  • Install small electrical equipment and supports.
  • Attend safety meetings and complete safety paperwork on a daily basis.
  • Demonstrate safety as a top priority.
  • Apply basic knowledge of the National Electric Code (NEC).
  • Understand basic electrical systems (low and high voltage).
  • Learn and adhere to project specifications for electrical system installation.
  • Identify opportunities to improve safety, quality, and productivity.
  • Install systems in a neat and workmanlike manner.

Requirements

  • 3-4 years of related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • NCCER Certification/License (preferred).
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in an electrical helper IV role.
  • Knowledge of MIC Health and Safety programs and project-specific regulations.
  • Active participation in daily toolbox meetings with crews and subcontractors.
  • Set a personal example of safe behavior.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Basic arithmetic skills: addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division using units of weight, measurement, and volume.
  • Common-sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written or oral form.
  • Ability to work within precise standards of accuracy and follow set procedures and standards.

Physical Demands

  • Work up to a 12-hour shift performing hard physical labor in varying temperatures and outdoor conditions.
  • Maintain physical strength and stamina; use arms, hands, and legs fully.
  • Push, pull, and frequently lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Stoop, kneel, balance, crouch, crawl, and climb to perform job tasks.
  • Perform repetitive tasks continuously for several-hour intervals.
  • Work in uncontrolled environmental conditions, including exposure to extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and loud noises.
  • Wear personal protective equipment (PPE) such as safety-toed shoes, gloves, safety glasses, hearing protection, hardhat, and vest.
  • Move in and around confined, cluttered, and uneven areas.
  • Work at heights and comply with all safety and fall-protection requirements; wear and utilize all required safety equipment.
  • Evaluate information based on measurable standards; see details in objects or drawings and recognize slight differences in shapes and shadings.
  • Visualize objects in three dimensions from drawings.
  • Maintain good balance and work at heights.
  • See well (naturally or with correction).
  • Hear well (naturally or with correction).
  • Coordinate the use of eyes, hands, and feet.

Schedule

This is a full-time position typically scheduled for 50 hours per week. The schedule is subject to project requirements.

Travel required up to 90%. Position requires presence directly on the project site location with intermittent travel to residence of record.

Pay

$32.00 per hour, commensurate with experience.
