About the role

The Harnessing team at 1X is responsible for creating wire harnesses and cable assemblies that ensure NEO, our flagship home robot, operates safely and reliably in homes. This role requires a hands-on technician who can deliver high-quality work, troubleshoot issues, and adapt to changing tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver wire harnesses and cable assemblies that meet IPC-620 acceptance criteria with high first-pass yield.
  • Perform continuity and fault-isolation testing on completed harnesses to catch and resolve defects before moving downstream.
  • Support a variety of tasks including prototype testing, assembly, and rework for production.
  • Isolate and resolve issues on the robot during on-bot reworks and debugging.
  • Reduce build and rework time on recurring harness builds by improving processes, fixtures, and documentation.
  • Maintain accurate, traceable records of work performed and surface design and process issues early.
  • Work independently with minimal hand-holding, ensuring safety, organization, and readiness for audits.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent with 2-3+ years of direct experience in wire harness fabrication and assembly.
  • Proven ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and assembly drawings.
  • Proficiency with hand tools and measurement tools.
  • IPC-620 certification.
  • Strong soldering skills and solid troubleshooting ability to diagnose open/short circuits and connection issues.

Preferred Skills

  • Associate's degree in Electrical Engineering Technology, Electronics, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Understanding of basic electrical principles and components.
  • Familiarity with signal types, shielding/grounding concepts, harness board design, and IPC-7711 / 7722 rework standards.

  • Hands-on technical fluency: reading and translating schematics and drawings into physical builds.
  • Diagnostics: quick and methodical isolation of opens, shorts, and connection faults.

  • Collaboration: partnering with engineers on prototypes, reworks, and improving how things get built.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Compensation range: $35/hr – $48/hr + Equity.
