About the role

The Electrical General Foreman is responsible for planning, supervising, performing, and coordinating all phases of installation, maintenance, repair, and inspection of electrical systems and service work in new or remodeled facilities. This role also involves planning daily activities for a crew of workers.

Responsibilities

  • Interpret specifications and read blueprints.
  • Assist in laying out work for the crew and preplan daily activities to ensure productivity meets job schedules.
  • Monitor quality control of work performed by craft workers.
  • Order and coordinate delivery of necessary materials.
  • Comply with all documentation requirements, including Daily Reports, Safety Reports, ESRs, and Inspection Reports.
  • Coordinate equipment needs, ensure operators are qualified, and maintain equipment.
  • Support the jobsite Superintendent in coordinating project activities.
  • Perform related trade work as required and travel to different jobsites on limited notice.
  • Implement better methods of production to strengthen best practices.
  • Monitor crew installation for quality issues and work areas to ensure high-quality completion.
  • Promote and comply with all Company and safety policies and procedures.
  • Train and instruct crew members in safe work practices and audit safe work practices, ensuring proper use of PPE.
  • Assist Human Resources and the Superintendent with interviewing, hiring, training, and appraising work performance.
  • Directly supervise and coordinate daily activities of craft workers.
  • Complete ESRs for employees with changes in job status (transfer, layoff, termination).
  • Conduct regular performance reviews of crew members and manage up to six or more employees and foremen.
  • Train and mentor new workers.

Requirements

  • 4 years of related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • NCCER Certification/License (preferred).
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in an electrical general foreman role.
  • Knowledgeable of MIC Health and Safety programs and project-specific regulations.
  • Actively participate in daily toolbox meetings with crews and subcontractors.
  • Set a personal example of safe behavior.
  • Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Perform basic arithmetic operations (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division) using units of weight, measurement, and volume.
  • Carry out instructions furnished in written or oral form.
  • Work within precise standards of accuracy and follow set procedures and standards.
  • Maintain in-depth relations with team members and supervisors.

Physical Demands

  • Work up to a 12-hour shift doing hard physical work in varying temperatures and outside conditions.
  • Maintain physical strength and stamina; use arms, hands, and legs fully.
  • Push, pull, and frequently lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Stoop, kneel, balance, crouch, crawl, and climb to perform job tasks.
  • Perform repetitive tasks continuously for several-hour intervals.
  • Work in uncontrolled environmental conditions with constant changes in weather and site conditions.
  • Moderate exposure to unusual elements such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and loud noises.
  • Wear personal protective equipment (e.g., safety-toed shoes, gloves, safety glasses, hearing protection, hardhat, vest).
  • Move in and around confined, cluttered, and uneven areas.
  • Work at heights and comply with all safety and fall-protection requirements.
  • Evaluate information based on measurable standards and recognize slight differences in shapes and shadings.
  • Visualize objects in three dimensions from drawings.
  • Maintain good balance and work at heights.
  • See well (naturally or with correction) and hear well (naturally or with correction).
  • Coordinate the use of eyes, hands, and feet.

Schedule

This is a full-time position typically scheduled for 50 hours per week, subject to project requirements. Travel is required up to 90%, with presence directly on the project site location and intermittent travel to residence of record.

Pay

$54/hour, commensurate with experience.
