About the role
EPI Power is hiring an electrical Foreman to be located on a data center project site. The Foreman will ensure that planning, laying out, installing, and wiring electrical components are completed as per project drawings specifications and following applicable electrical codes.
Responsibilities
- Manage a crew of 10 - 15 Journeymen and Apprentices
- Learn employees’ names, make sure their name is on the hard hat, get to know everyone’s strengths and weaknesses, and assign them accordingly
- Manage and track all tools, ensure the appropriate number of tools are matched to the crew size, and return all defective tools with tool tags with a brief description of the problem
- Build effective and cost-efficient composite crews
- Using a Pre-Fab Coordinator, maximize the use of Pre-Fab and packaging on all tasks and projects
- Ensure all work installed meets CEC, NEC, state, federal, or any other codes that apply to the project jurisdiction
- Lead by example in a professional, workmanlike manner, role model for the crew, and challenge all employees to achieve excellence
- Responsible for the Safety and Field Labor on the project assigned
- Review individual crew daily Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) for compliance
- Performing constant quality checks and ensuring that all work meets specifications
- Address any deficiencies or issues promptly
- Maintain accurate records of work completed, including daily logs and progress reports
- Understand weekly project objectives with strict adherence to the installation schedule
- Develop excellent understanding of the scope of work, drawings, specs and schedule
- Manage tasks to achieve or exceed production targets provided by General Foreman
Requirements
- Education: High School diploma or general education degree (GED)
- Experience: A valid Class A or B license from the State of Iowa is preferred
- Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide units of measure; Ability to make complex cuts not to waste material, and figure out complex forming systems; Training and complying with all safety rules, and performing without constant supervision
- Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as blueprints and specifications, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals; Ability to write routine correspondence and speak effectively with customers and co-workers
Physical Demands
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to bend, sit, stand and walk on uneven ground; use hands to manipulate objects, tools or controls; frequently make repetitive reaching and other movements with hands and arms; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl
- The employee frequently is required to speak and listen and must regularly lift and/or move materials
- Specific vision abilities include close vision and ability to adjust focus
Work Environment
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee must wear all company or project required personal protective equipment (PPE)
- Regularly work in outside weather conditions
- Be aware of close moving mechanical parts
- Perform in high, precarious places
- Occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles
- The noise level in the work environment is usually loud
