About the Role

As a mid-level Electrical Field Engineer (SCADA) in the Field Services group, you will perform Engineering Field Services with a SCADA focus as well as assist with Engineering Design and Analysis under the responsible charge of a Professional Engineer. This role provides clients with quality service that is on time and within budget.

Responsibilities

  • Performs equipment, control system, communications, troubleshooting, relay testing, start-up, and commissioning services
  • Assist in detailed design of all aspects of electrical power systems to include one-line diagrams, three-line diagrams, control and relaying schematics, wiring diagrams, SCADA, communications, conduit and cable sizing/routing, grounding design, general arrangement, selection of equipment, writing of equipment specifications
  • Set, test, wire, and install relaying and control systems, specifically SEL equipment
  • Installation, program, and test communications, SCADA, and PLC systems, primarily SEL RTACs and NEI Electric Power Engineering, Inc. equipment
  • Produce configuration files associated with IEC61850 (GOOSE), DNP3, or other SCADA protocols
  • Perform SCADA and relay field testing and commissioning services
  • Provide field assistance and troubleshooting for SCADA systems such as SEL RTAC, Ignition, or PLCs
  • Check the work of designers, drafters, and field service personnel for general quality and accuracy as required
  • Prepare field testing, troubleshooting, investigation, and construction progress reports
  • Maintain a thorough understanding and application of applicable Codes and Standards
  • Maintain strong and responsive Company-Client relationships
  • Maintain high ethical and professional standards
  • Work additional time beyond 40 hours/week as required to complete projects, proposals, and/or administrative functions
  • Attend conferences, training workshops, seminars, regular undergraduate and graduate classes as appropriate for advancement and as required to maintain quality of work
  • Attend safety training and follow safety rules and guidelines
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology from an accredited institution (electric power option preferred)
  • 1 – 5 years of relevant engineering or field experience
  • FE licensure is preferred
  • Knowledge and familiarity with medium and high voltage power systems, with strong knowledge in SCADA
  • SEL equipment installation and configuration; RTAC experience is a plus
  • Experience with configuring, testing, and commissioning IEC61850, DNP3, MODBUS, and/or other SCADA protocols
  • Experience creating Network Architecture Diagrams
  • Previous interactions with clients, customers, contractors, and others
  • Ability to travel periodically for weeks across states for field work as needed
  • Effective written and oral communications skills
  • Good interpersonal and people skills
  • Currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD and power system software such as EasyPower, ETAP, or SKM (preferred)
  • Experience with Omicron test equipment (preferred)
  • Relay / SCADA panel wiring experience in a substation environment (preferred)
