Electrical Facilities Engineer Intern

About the role

Merrick & Company is seeking a college or graduate school Electrical or Architectural Engineering student for a paid summer internship for Summer 2027 at our Greenwood Village, CO, San Antonio, TX, or Chamblee (Atlanta area), GA office. The summer internship has a commitment of approximately mid-May through mid-August 2027.

What You'll Do

The Merrick Intern Program will provide an undergraduate or graduate student an opportunity to gain technical experience in the field of electrical engineering. Our intern will be exposed to a variety of electrical engineering experiences and tasks including:

• Facility electrical power, lighting, grounding, and lightning protection
• Communication systems
• The LEED certification process, sustainable buildings, and renewable energy design
• Collaboration with other disciplines
• Interface with clients and contractors
• Following schedules and budget commitments
• Working independently
• Possessing good written and oral communication skills
• Problem solving

Required Qualifications

• Graduation date after August 2027
• Pursuing an engineering degree in Electrical Engineering or Architectural Engineering with an electrical emphasis from an ABET accredited university
• Currently enrolled and entering junior year or higher of undergraduate degree or currently enrolled in grad school
• Knowledge of facility electrical and lighting design and/or power system design
• U.S. Citizenship required for client projects

Desired Qualifications

• Knowledge of AutoCAD
• Knowledge of Revit
• Knowledge of lighting design software (AGi32, ElumTools)
• Knowledge of power distribution design software (SKM PowerTools, Easy Power)
• Local candidates preferred
