About the role
Merrick & Company is seeking a college or graduate school Electrical Engineering student for a paid summer internship for the Summer of 2027 at our Aiken, SC office. The summer internship has a commitment of approximately mid-May through mid-August 2027. Merrick’s Summer Internship Program offers meaningful, hands-on experience for students, designed as a shorter-term, exploratory experience that allows students to apply what they’re learning in school while gaining exposure to real projects, professional collaboration, and day-to-day life at an employee-owned company.
Responsibilities
- Gain technical experience in the field of electrical engineering through hands-on tasks and projects.
- Participate in a variety of electrical engineering experiences including glovebox electrical design, lighting, grounding, fire detection, communication analysis and design, instrumentation, and control design.
- Collaborate with other disciplines and interface with engineers, designers, and clients.
- Follow schedules and budget commitments while working independently and in a team environment.
Requirements
- Graduation date after August 2027.
- Pursuing an engineering degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET accredited program.
- Currently enrolled and entering junior year or higher of undergraduate degree or currently enrolled in graduate school.
- Good written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to problem solve.
- US Citizenship required due to client project requirements.
Desired Qualifications
- Knowledge of electrical and lighting design and/or power system design.
- Knowledge of MicroStation, AutoCAD, or Revit.
- Knowledge of PLC design.
