Electrical Fabrication Technician

Raytheon's Hardware Electrical Engineering Team is looking for junior engineers who have electronics knowledge to support the design and test of electronic products and systems. Our focus is on circuit card assemblies, and we want you to help us innovate and grow. We're expanding our engineering organization to meet customer demand and are actively looking for engineers with strong foundational skills and a passion for solving hard problems. Industry experience in defense is not required—we'll invest in you.

About the role

This is an onsite position in Tucson, AZ. The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government-issued security clearance is required, and U.S. citizenship is mandatory as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance. An active and existing Secret DoD clearance is required after day one.

Responsibilities

• Modify, rework, and populate Engineering Circuit Card Assemblies (CCAs), assemblies, and subassemblies to ensure proper operation per established criteria.
• Perform required repairs to returned and damaged units to restore them to an operational state, including:
  • Micro-soldering under a microscope for extended periods.
  • Building cables and harnesses from schematics.
  • Quality verification and inspection under a microscope.
  • Identifying, repairing, and replacing wire harnesses and cable assemblies.
  • Replacing mechanical and electrical components.
  • Operating multi-meters or basic ohmmeters to conduct point-to-point current connection.
• Recognize failures, isolate problems, and suggest appropriate corrective action.
• Keep management aware of potential problems or identified risks that may negatively affect program schedule or quality.
• Provide support and feedback to the Engineering development team.

Requirements

• A Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM).
• A minimum of 5 years of prior relevant experience.
• Experience with solder, mechanical, quality standards, processes, and/or documentation.
• Verification and/or inspection experience with associated standards, processes, and/or documentation.
• Experience with cable and harness assembly, fabrication, and/or rework.

Preferred Qualifications

• CCA manufacturing experience and associated fabrication standards, processes, and documentation.
• IPC J-STD-001 solder certification.
• IPC 610 and 620 acceptability certification and inspection experience.
• Motivated self-starter with the ability to use good judgment and work independently or collaboratively.
• Ability to perform quality work within a fast-paced Engineering technical support environment.
• Experience with solder rework equipment, including reflow oven, mini-wave, pre-heater, hot air pencil, and de-solder tools.
• Ability to work with fabrication processes such as bonding, cleaning, coating, and mechanical fasteners.
• Ability to read and comprehend work instructions, schematics, detailed electronic blueprints, and other authorized drawings.
• Ability to establish customer priorities and manage multiple tasks successfully.
• Experience using hand tools such as soldering iron, cutters, wire strippers, and electric heat gun.
• Assembly, fabrication, and rework experience of micro-size components on circuit card assemblies.
• Existing Secret security clearance.

Pay

The salary range for this role is $53,100 – $100,900 USD. The range is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including the role, function, responsibilities, work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Schedule

9/80 schedule (every other Friday off). This is an onsite role.
