Electrical Estimator (Commercial/Industrial)

About the role

PFD Electric, LLC is seeking a Commercial Electrical Estimator to lead industrial and commercial bidding. Position is full‑time, hybrid‑based in Phoenix, AZ. No mandatory licenses or certifications are required.

Responsibilities

• Prepare accurate estimates for commercial and industrial electrical projects from initial plan review through final proposal submission.
• Perform detailed electrical takeoffs to calculate labor, material, equipment, and subcontractor costs for hard‑bid, design‑build, and budgetary projects.
• Collaborate with the Director of Field Operations to establish project scope, constructability approach, risk profiles, and labor assumptions.
• Evaluate vendor and subcontractor pricing while proactively identifying missing information or bid clarifications.
• Maintain an organized estimating pipeline to track active bid deadlines, scope revisions, and proposal statuses.
• Prepare complete project turnover packages upon award to ensure seamless transitions for budget, labor assumptions, and vendor commitments.
• Review estimated versus actual project performance post‑completion to continuously optimize future bidding accuracy.

Requirements

• Mandatory proficiency and hands‑on experience using Conest Estimating Software.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in commercial or industrial electrical construction and/or estimating.
• Proven ability to perform detailed electrical takeoffs and build complete bid packages from scratch.
• Strong expertise in reading and interpreting electrical drawings, specifications, single‑line diagrams, and project documents.
• In‑depth understanding of electrical construction methods, installation sequencing, labor productivity, and material costs.

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior hands‑on field experience as a Journeyman, Foreman, or field supervisor.
• Experience estimating projects in active industrial, manufacturing, food & beverage, process facilities, or water/wastewater environments.

Compensation & Benefits

Competitive base salary of $75,000‑$85,000 per year with regular performance bonus opportunities.
