  • Cook up the Electrical work with the balance of a multidiscipline team throughout the entire project's development
  • Make friends with clients and join in marketing, design, and production meetings regarding electrical systems
  • Take charge of the electrical lead on projects
  • Check in with various governing agencies for code compliance
  • Do schematic, design development, and contract document work sessions with the Project Manager, Project Architect, and other disciplines
  • Keep an eye on project development and finances with the project lead to coordinate and adjust the work effort with the team so work is completed within the parameters of the agreed upon budget and schedule
  • Be the boss of other electrical engineering professionals and a mentor to other staff members as needed
  • Do other tasks as needed
  • Be a go-to person for the team working on projects in the market sector
  • Stay involved with professional societies to track opportunities for conferences, presentations, etc.
  • Understand market sector and design trends in the Area
  • Identify tools, resources, process improvements that would be of benefit to projects in the market sector
  • Lead project charettes and project reviews for projects in their market sectors
  • Train and mentor on technical growth in their market sector
  • Support other HDR areas and alternate business groups for their market sector
  • Be a technical resource to HDR
  • Collaborate across business classes in their market sector
  • Help write proposals (pursuit) and prepare fees for your specific market
  • Be involved with project interviews, when necessary
  • Be involved with candidate interviews and hiring process, when necessary

Requirements

  • Professional Engineering License
  • 10+ years’ experience in electrical design of buildings (lighting/power/systems)
  • Average of 15 years of engineering experience in the discipline to be supported
  • Aptitude and demonstrated hands-on experience with computer applications specific to the discipline to be supported
  • Extensive knowledge of industry standards specific to the discipline being supported
  • Proven ability to work in multi-disciplinary environments
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Qualifications

  • Associate's degree in engineering or related field of study or equivalent work experience

Pay

The expected compensation range for this position depends upon skills, experience, education and geographical location. (Stated benefits are for full-time regular positions. Temporary and part-time roles eligible for limited benefits.) Minnesota: $113,631 - $162,330
