About the role
The Industrial Business Unit of CDM Smith is a design-builder focused on delivering water, facilities, and environmental projects. This role involves leading the design and delivery of complex substation projects, driving innovation in protection and control systems, mentoring junior engineers, and collaborating with clients and stakeholders on high-profile energy projects.
Responsibilities
- Lead the design and delivery of complex substation projects ensuring reliability, safety, and efficiency of power systems.
- Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance and training.
- Collaborate with sales staff to create proposals in response to RFPs.
- Attend conferences and symposia to improve the firm's visibility.
- Work with clients and government officials to clarify technical questions and keep project management informed.
- Supervise junior engineers on project work.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field.
- 15 years of related experience, or equivalent experience in lieu of a degree.
- Domestic and/or international travel may be required.
Qualifications
- Expert knowledge of CADD 3D and 4D software and best practices.
- Strong design and calculation skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft business software (Excel, Word, etc.).
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations.
